Site Development & Grading
for New Retail Sites
Site development and grading are part of the civil engineering services provided by Gable Consulting to developers and owners of new retail sites. Shown below are but a few examples.
Finished shopping center
A precise grading plan was prepared along with horizontal control plans, site utility and public sewer plans for this 5-acre shopping center. Metric street improvement plans were also prepared for Beach Boulevard and processed through Caltrans. The project was located on the border of Los Angeles and Orange counties. This required coordination with agencies such as the L.A. and Orange County Sanitation Districts, L.A. and Orange County Flood Control Districts, L.A. County Fire Department, Suburban Water Systems, City of LaMirada, State of California Water Quality Control Board, and L.A. County Department of Public Works.
Pad elevations were set for this shopping center, and earthwork quantities were determined. An onsite storm drain system was designed to tie into the City of Costa Mesa storm drain. An onsite utility plan indicating sewer, water and fireline laterals was also prepared. Special design was required to avoid large eucalyptus trees.
